Why is the Güzelyalı-Dardanos Advanced Waste Water Treatment Plant visited as an inspiring project project?

First of all, we would like to state that we will always be proud to have had the opportunity to actualize this project carried out by Çanakkale Municipality, which has been visited by environmental professionals from all over Türkiye.
- In this project, we implemented a Fixed Film Integrated Activated Sludge System (IFAS) treatment system, which is a process that utilizes bacteria and contains more biomass than the classical activated sludge system.

- The plant has advantages such as low space requirement, ease of operation, odorless and aesthetic treatment technology, resistance to shock loads and low operating costs.

- Thanks to the fixed films integrated into the aeration basin, bacteria can grow both suspended and attached, so more water is treated in a narrow space, less oxygen is consumed, and less sludge is produced.

- We designed the aeration ponds to be covered with glass like a greenhouse, so that green plants can grow on top of the ponds and it resembles a botanical garden, which we think suits Güzelyalı very well, rather than a wastewater treatment plant.
